Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 2026
Effective Date: June 1, 2026
1. Introduction and Data Controller
Welcome to AssetCalcs ("we", "our", or "us"). We are an independent publisher of free financial calculation tools, operating this website at assetcalcs.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you visit our website, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].
2. What Data We Collect and Why
AssetCalcs is a client-side calculator tool. We do not require you to create an account, log in, or submit any personally identifiable financial information. All calculations are performed locally in your browser — your financial inputs (loan amounts, property values, salaries, etc.) are never transmitted to our servers.
2a. Automatically Collected Data
When you visit our website, the following anonymous data is automatically collected:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4): We use GA4 to collect anonymous usage statistics including pages visited, session duration, bounce rate, device type (mobile/desktop), operating system, browser type, and approximate geographic region (country and broad city-level — not precise GPS). All GA4 data is anonymized and aggregated; we do not use it to identify individual users.
- Server logs: Our web hosting provider may log IP addresses, request URLs, referrer URLs, and timestamps for security and performance monitoring purposes. These logs are automatically purged on a rolling basis and are not used for marketing.
2b. Data You Submit Voluntarily
If you contact us through our Contact form at /contact/, you provide your name (optional), email address, and message content. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add contact form submissions to any marketing lists, and we do not share this information with third parties.
2c. Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect or store: financial input data entered into our calculators (loan amounts, income, property values, etc.); payment information (all services are free); social security numbers, tax identification numbers, or government IDs; or health or biometric data.
3. Cookies We Use
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. The following table describes all cookies placed on your device when you use AssetCalcs:
| Cookie / Key | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ac_cookie_consent | AssetCalcs | Stores your cookie consent preference so we don't prompt you on every visit | Persistent (localStorage) | Essential |
| theme | AssetCalcs | Stores your dark/light mode preference | Persistent (localStorage) | Essential |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Anonymous site usage statistics — pages visited, session duration, device type | 2 years / 1 day | Analytics |
| __gads, IDE, NID | Google AdSense | Used to serve and measure relevant advertisements (when advertising is active) | Up to 13 months | Advertising |
4. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdSense)
AssetCalcs uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense is a service provided by Google LLC. When advertising is active, Google and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your browsing history across the web (interest-based advertising).
You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:
- Google Ads Settings — manage your ad personalization preferences
- Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) Opt-Out — US users
- Your Online Choices — UK/EU users
For more information on how Google uses data from partner sites, see Google's privacy and terms.
5. Affiliate Links and Referral Tracking
Some links on AssetCalcs are affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link and complete a purchase or sign-up, the affiliate partner (such as Awin or Impact) may set a tracking cookie in your browser to attribute the referral to AssetCalcs. This tracking is handled by the affiliate network's own privacy policies, not directly by AssetCalcs.
We do not receive any personally identifiable information about you from our affiliate partners — we only receive an anonymous commission notification confirming a referral was successful. All affiliate relationships are disclosed on the pages where partner links appear.
6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR — UK and EEA Users)
If you are located in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Consent: Analytics cookies and advertising cookies are only placed when you accept them via our cookie consent banner. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate Interests: We process anonymized server logs for security monitoring and abuse prevention under our legitimate interest in protecting the integrity of our service.
- Contract Performance: If you contact us with a query, processing your email address is necessary to fulfill your request for assistance.
7. Your Rights Under GDPR and UK PECR
If you are located in the UK or EEA, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of any inaccurate personal data.
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data where we no longer have a legitimate reason to hold it.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

To submit a CCPA request, email [email protected] with the subject line "CCPA Privacy Request."
9. Data Retention
We do not store personally identifiable financial data on our servers. GA4 analytics data is retained for 14 months per our GA4 settings. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 2 years, then deleted. Server access logs are purged on a rolling 90-day cycle.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable technical measures to secure the AssetCalcs website, including HTTPS encryption for all connections, secure hosting infrastructure, and access controls for administrative functions. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
11. Children's Privacy
AssetCalcs is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
